LEGAL ADVERTISEMENT
ORDER AUTHORIZING $9,300,000 STREET AND SIDEWALK BONDS
BE IT ORDERED by the City Council of the City of Burlington, North Carolina:
1. That pursuant to the Local Government Bond Act, as amended, the City of Burlington, North Carolina is hereby authorized to contract a debt, in addition to any and all other debt which said City may now or hereafter have power and authority to contract, and in evidence thereof to issue Street and Sidewalk Bonds in an aggregate principal amount not exceeding $9,300,000 for the purpose of providing funds, together with any other available funds, for constructing, extending, widening and improving streets and sidewalks of said City, inside and outside its corporate limits, including, without limitation, curbs, gutters, culverts, drains, traffic controls and signals, markers and related equipment and the acquisition of related land and rights of way.
2. That taxes shall be levied in an amount sufficient to pay the principal of and the interest on said bonds.
3. That a sworn statement of debt of said City has been filed with the City Clerk of said City and is open to public inspection.
4. That this order shall take effect when approved by the voters of said City at a referendum as provided in said Act.
ORDER AUTHORIZING $18,000,000 GENERAL OBLIGATION REFUNDING BONDS
BE IT ORDERED by the City Council of the City of Burlington, North Carolina:
1. That pursuant to The Local Government Bond Act, as amended, the City of
Burlington, North Carolina, is hereby authorized to contract a debt, in addition to any
and all other debt which said City may now or hereafter have power and authority to
contract, and in evidence thereof to issue General Obligation Refunding Bonds in an
aggregate principal amount not exceeding $18,000,000 for the purpose of providing
funds, together with any other available funds, to (a) refund all or a portion of the
City’s outstanding General Obligation Public improvement Bonds, Series 2000, dated
August 1, 2000 and (b) pay certain expenses related thereto.
2. That taxes shall be levied in an amount sufficient to pay the principal of and the interest on said bonds.
3. That a sworn statement of debt of said City has been filed with the City Clerk of said City and is open to public inspection.
4. That this order shall take effect upon adoption.
The foregoing orders were adopted on the 2nd day of August, 2005, and are hereby published this 5th day of August, 2005. Any action or proceeding questioning the validity of the orders must be begun within 30 days after the date of publication of this notice.

NOTICE OF BOND REFERENDUM
CITY OF BURLINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA
A bond referendum will be held in the City of Burlington, North Carolina on Tuesday, November 8, 2005 regarding approval of not to exceed $9,300,000 STREET AND SIDEWALK BONDS of said City. The proceeds of said street and sidewalk bonds would be used for constructing, extending, widening and improving streets and sidewalks of said City, inside and outside its corporate limits, all as set forth in the bond order adopted by the City Council of said City on August 2, 2005. If said street and sidewalk bonds are issued, taxes in an amount sufficient to pay the principal and interest thereof may be levied upon all taxable property in the City of Burlington.
The referendum will be conducted by the Alamance County Board of Elections. The last day for new registration of those not now registered to vote is Friday, October 14, 2005.
