Debris Removal
City crews are well aware of the many trees down and other public safety issues. We are prioritizing our work dealing with the most serious issues impacting roadways and safe travel first. We must also work in partnership with Duke Power to assist their crews in restoring power. During the early response we have been cutting and pushing debris to the side in order clear roadways. Over the coming days we will transition to a debris removal phase that will take an extended period of time.
Residents can assist in this process by properly preparing debris for pick-up. Debris should be piled in a safe location in the right-of-way that is accessible, but does not block either the street or sidewalk.

Debris needs to be cut in lengths not exceeding 6 feet. While the ordinance limits collection of debris to six inches in diameter city staff will make every effort to collect segments larger than that. For worker safety, only clear bags may be used if bagging yard waste. For additional information you may visit or call the Public Works Department at 336-222-5005.

-Friday sanitation routes were not completed on 3/7. The remainder of these routes will be collected on Monday, March 10th. Please have carts to the street by 7:00am. Please call 222-5111 with questions regarding City sanitation.
