[ARCHIVED] Notice of Discharge of Untreated Waste

As required by the Clean Water Act of 1999 (House Bill 1160), the City of Burlington provides the following notice:

The City of Burlington had an overflow of approximately 50,400 gallons of untreated wastewater from its sanitary collection system reach surface waters beginning at 11:08 AM on Saturday, January 11, 2014 in the 1100 block of N. Graham Hopedale Road in Burlington, NC. The overflow, caused by inflow and infiltration, discharged into a tributary of Service Creek. The flooding ceased at 5:30 PM on Saturday, January 11, 2014.

The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Division of Water Quality was notified of this overflow. This information is being published as required by the North Carolina General Statute, Article 21 Chapter 143.215.C.
