[ARCHIVED] Haloacetic Acid Now in Compliance

The City of Burlington Water Resources Department issued three public notices in 2013 regarding levels of Haloacetic Acids found at one of the City’s 8 disinfection by-product monitoring locations.

Results from water tests conducted in November 2013 indicated that Burlington’s water system is now back in compliance with the “Disinfection By-Products rule” at all eight of the disinfection by-product monitoring locations.

There are no requirements for water systems to inform customers when water tests comply with drinking water regulations. However, a number of residents contacted the City regarding the original public notice expressed an interest in knowing when the City would be in compliance.

The next round of compliance sampling is scheduled for February 2014.
