[ARCHIVED] Bulk Waste Collection Fee Waived through April 26

Bulk Fee Waiver Insert - 2013_thumb.jpg

In an effort to help keep the city clean, the Burlington City Council waived bulk collection fees from February 4th through March 29th. However, due to the cold and wet weather conditions experienced in Burlington through most of February, the City Council voted to extend the opportunity available to residents through April 26th.

Normal bulk collection fees are $6.75 per “bite” of a bulk truck if more than one “bite” is necessary. These fees have now been waived until April 26th. Bulk items include tree trimmings (shorter than six feet), limbs (under six inches in diameter), large yard waste volumes, large household items, mattresses, sofas, large furniture items, rolled carpet, large appliances, white goods and large metals. Items that cannot be collected include motor oil, anti-freeze, batteries, scrap tires, construction debris, wood pallets, electronics, contractor waste, or any recyclables.

This promotion applies to residential units that currently receive bulk collection services. The Sanitation Division asks that residents simply place bulk items out one day prior to their usual trash pick-up day.

Yard waste may be bagged, neatly stacked or containerized. Bagged waste may only be placed in clear bags; no other type of bag will be accepted. Containers may not exceed 32 gallons in capacity or 50 pounds in weight.

The free bulk waste collections will continue until April 26th.The City encourages citizens to take advantage of this promotion and help to keep Burlington clean! Citizens can direct any questions to the City Sanitation Division at 222-5111 or visit www.burlingtonNC.gov for more information.
