NOTICE OF PUBLIC INFORMATIONAL MEETING
ON HAZARD MITIGATION PLANNING

The public will take notice that, pursuant to Federal Disaster Mitigation Act of 2000 and North Carolina Senate Bill 300 of 2001, the City of Burlington will hold a public informational meeting in the City Council Chamber of the Municipal Building, 425 South Lexington Avenue at 7:30 p. m. on June 30, 2005 on the matter of reviewing the community’s hazard mitigation plan. The plan addresses the following hazards: earthquakes; landslides/sinkholes; floods; wildfires; dam/levee failure; drought/heat wave; and winter storms/freezes to name a few.

At the public informational meeting, a panel will receive comments from residents of the City of Burlington to provide comments on the proposed draft plan. Information received will be used in completing the City’s Hazard Mitigation Plan.

Residents unable to attend may send comments to the Office of Public Information, Post Office Box 1358, Burlington, NC 27216, attention Jennifer Smith. Comments should be mailed on or before July 11, 2005. A copy of the draft plan is available in the City Clerk’s office and on the City of Burlington website @ www.BurlingtonNC.gov.

The City of Burlington will provide reasonable accommodations, auxiliary aids and services, for any qualified disabled person interested in attending the meeting.
