On Friday, December 21st, the Burlington Fire Department presented two checks, totaling $8,000 to Alamance Regional Medical Center to support the Blue and Pink Ribbon Funds. The Blue and Pink Ribbon Funds, respectively, support prostate and breast cancer research and patient assistance.
The Burlington Fire Department Benefit Fund raised the money through their annual T-shirt sale. This year, the "duty shirts" displayed a pink or a blue ribbon. Approximately $5 from the sale of each of the shirts went toward supporting the Blue or Pink Ribbon Fund.
In the line of duty or not, Burlington Fire Fighters are always finding ways to give back to the community and make a positive difference in the lives of others.
