A proclamation passed during the regular meeting of the Burlington City Council on September 4th, calls the City’s first responders, houses of worship, and citizens to join our nation in the ringing of bells and sounding of sirens for one minute at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, September 11th in a “Moment of Remembrance” of the 9/11 tragedies that occurred eleven years ago on that day.
At 9:00 AM on Tuesday, the City’s Fire and Police Department will commence ringing their bells and sounding their sirens from all corners of the City for one minute. Each of the City’s five fire stations will ring their bells and sound engine sirens; they will be joined by members of the police force, sounding the sirens of their squad cars positioned in various locations throughout the City.
The City Council encourages the City’s houses of worship, business, schools and citizens to join the community in this show of solidarity and remembrance by ringing bells or waving American flags at 9:00 AM on the anniversary of the 9/11 tragedies.
