The City of Burlington will begin taking steps toward the revision of a ten-year master plan which expired in 2010 amidst a tough economy and slow growth across the city. It will serve as the orderly development for future improvement and development within the Department and can be incorporated into the long range capital improvement plan of the organization. The process often times identifies present and future needs as well as the potential for developing facilities down the road. Through a series of focus groups and general public meetings, the Burlington Recreation & Parks Department will move forward with the strategies listed below:
• The future of recreation roles for the city
• Park renovations and development
• Facility renovations and development
• Programming strategies for recreation and parks
The strategies will be identified with input from the public through focus groups, a public survey that will be sent through the City’s Notify Me web site, and a general meeting open to citizens on May 22nd, at 7pm in the John Robert Kernodle Senior Center located at 1535 S. Mebane Street, Burlington. All interested persons are encouraged to attend the general meeting
Master Plan development by no means is an affirmation or confirmation that changes will take place but simply a citizen driven roadmap for future development within the City of Burlington. For further information, please contact the Burlington Recreation & Parks Department at 336-222-5030.
