[ARCHIVED] Mayor Wall to Serve on 3 State-wide Boards; Named Most Influential

The December 2011 edition of The Business Journal hit Triad newsstands recently featuring Mayor Ronnie K. Wall. Due to his leadership and contributions to the betterment of the Triad region, Mayor Wall was selected as one of the Triad’s Most Influential People for the fourth consecutive time since 2008. Recognizing the leaders whose “experience, wisdom and perspective are key in positioning this region’s businesses, institutions and nonprofits for the future” the publication selected Wall for his commitment to Burlington as well as his dominant role in regional collaboration.

Mayor Ronnie K. Wall was also recently selected to serve the State’s municipalities in several different capacities. Mayor Wall was appointed by NC League of Municipalities President Latimer Alexander, to serve as Chair of the League’s Planning and Environment Legislative Action Committee. This committee is responsible for considering and developing the proposed legislative agenda and advocacy goals for the League’s Board of Directors. The North Carolina League of Municipalities was founded in 1908 with the purpose of promoting excellence in municipal government and providing opportunities for officials to exchange ideas, advocate for cities and towns, and to develop a cooperative approach to statewide municipal problems.

Not only will Mayor Wall influence the NC League of Municipalities by serving as the chairman of the Planning and Environmental Legislative Action Committee, but he will also help steer the future of the organization and the municipalities which it represents as a member of the Board of Directors. In October, Mayor Wall was elected to serve a two-year term on the League’s Board of Directors as the Undesignated Affiliate Organization Representative of the Metropolitan Mayors Coalition.

The NC League of Municipalities is not the only organization that Mayor Wall will help guide in the coming years, he will also be serving the Metropolitan Mayor Coalition as an At-Large member of the Executive Committee. The NC Metropolitan Mayors Coalition was founded in 2001 to promote the interchange of ideas and experiences among municipal officials for continued development of urban areas. During his one-year appointment to the Executive Committee, Mayor Wall will direct the Coalition toward their goals of expanding urban areas in livable, environmentally sound and economically viable ways.
