Due to the continued drop in water level at Lake Cammack, Burlington Recreation and Parks will suspend all activities at the Lake, including fishing, on Monday, September 19th. This suspension will include the hiking trail and all other lake facilities, except the Civitan Shelter, which will still be available for use by reservation. Normal operation of Lake Cammack will resume when water levels are restored to a safe depth.
Water levels at Lake Cammack have been kept purposefully low to allow for construction activity occurring on the Lake Cammack Dam. Lowered water levels combined with inadequate rainfall have created unsafe conditions for leisure activities on the Lake and have thus resulted in this temporary suspension of use. Availability of water for City consumption purposes does not present an issue.
In order to continue to provide comprehensive aquatic recreation services, Lake Mackintosh and the Huffman Mill Road Park and Marina will be opening seven days a week until regular services at Lake Cammack are restored. The Guilford Mackintosh Park and Marina will continue to operate on its regular schedule of 7:00am – 7:00pm Fridays through Tuesdays.
Please visit our Lakes and Marinas’ webpage for details about activities and operating hours specific to each facility. Please contact the City’s Recreation and Parks Department at 222-5030 for general information regarding the closure of Lake Cammack or the modified schedules of Lake Mackintosh and the Huffman Mill Road Park and Marina.
