The Burlington Police Department received its 7th Accreditation Award, requirements of a highly regarded and broadly recognized body of Law Enforcement Accreditation standards by the by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc., (CALEA) on March 26, 2011.
To be awarded continued Law Enforcement Re-Accreditation signifies professional excellence and that the Burlington Police Department satisfactorily completed the continuous systematic process of a thorough agency wide self-evaluation that included the Burlington Police Department policies and procedures. This was concluded by an exacting outside review by a team of independent assessors, a credentialing authority of CALEA.
The Burlington Police Department has been accredited since 1989 through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. It is a proven, model management tool that promotes efficient use of resources and improves service delivery.
