At the February 15, 2005 meeting of the Burlington City Council, the Burlington Fire Department was presented with a set of CPR training manikins from the National Automobile Dealers Association Charitable Foundation and the North Carolina Automobile Dealers Association. Mr. David Westcott, NCADA Past Chairman, Mr. Dale Stearns, NCADA Past Chairman, and Mr. Robert Glaser, NCADA Executive Vice-President, made the presentation to Fire Chief Jay Smith.
The manikins will be used by the Department to provide continuing education and training of the departments emergency responders as well as used to teach citizens of Burlington the lifesaving skills of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. “If the right kind of treatment, including CPR and defibrillation can be given to a heart attack victim within the first few minutes after he or she is stricken, the chances are good that the life can be saved,” say Chief Smith.
The National Automobile Dealers Charitable Foundation is part of the National Automobile Dealers Association with headquarters in McLean, Virginia. Its membership includes over 19,000 franchised new and truck dealer’s n the United States, including many local dealers.
