During the United Way Annual Luncheon on February 15, 2011, the City of Burlington and its United Way Campaign Coordinator each received recognition for their superior efforts during the 2010 United Way Campaign.
The City of Burlington received the Dave Knotts Campaign Award which was established by the United Way Board of Directors to honor organizations in the public sector that have excelled in their United Way employee campaigns. Of more than 500 total City employees, 73 percent donated to the United Way campaign. These employee donations helped the City’s campaign raise $54,036 for the United Way.
In addition to the honors bestowed upon the City for its outstanding campaign, the City’s Campaign Coordinator, Renee Ward, was individually recognized for her efforts. Renee Ward received the Colleen Newsome Award for her leadership and dedication to the City of Burlington’s United Way Campaign. She never missed a board meeting or fundraising event and passionately led the City of Burlington to a record setting campaign.
In response to the successful campaign and subsequent award, Renee Ward said, “Thanks goes to my co-coordinator, Shawna Tillery, for her dedication and hard work but most importantly to the City’s Campaign Team and the employees for passionately giving back to their community. With the monies raised, we are making a difference!” The City looks forward to participating in an even more successful United Way Campaign in 2011.
