Councilman, Steve Ross, has been appointed to the National League of Cities’ Public Safety & Crime Prevention Committee. Ross was appointed by the National League of Cities President, Christopher Jones, to serve a one-year term.
The Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee is responsible for policy in the areas of crime prevention, corrections, substance abuse, municipal fire policy, juvenile justice, disaster preparedness and relief, homeland security, domestic terrorism, court systems and gun control. Councilman Ross will serve on the Policy and Advocacy portion of the committee which chooses the policy agenda for the year and reviews proposed policy proposals and resolutions drafted on that agenda by a smaller steering committee.
The first Public Safety and Crime Prevention Committee meeting of 2011 will be held on Sunday, March 12th during the Congressional City Conference in Washington, D.C.
