The value of annexation empowers people to choose the government that will provide them with the highest level of services and be responsive to their needs. The City of Burlington has continually provided the highest level of services while setting the standards for quality growth.

There are many reasons why property owners and citizens desire to have their property annexed into the City of Burlington. The City offers several advantages such as:

Increased Levels of Service
* Excellent fire department services with lower homeowners insurance premiums
* Police protection with higher police officer to resident ratio and smaller patrolling areas
* Once a week garbage pick-up
& Leaf pick up in autumn
* Snow removal on city streets in winter
* Street lights at no cost
* Code enforcement and minimum housing enforcement
* Water and Sewer rates at 50% the cost of non-resident water and sewer customers

Livable Communities
* Zoning, building and neighborhood protection
* CBC (Connecting Burlington Communities) program
* Parks and neighborhood events
* Lower Parks and Recreation fees for city residents

More Responsive Local Government

The public will take notice of a public hearing on December 7th, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the City Municipal Building to provide the public an opportunity to comment on the proposed annexation of nine areas located south and west of the city limits of Burlington.
