[ARCHIVED] Council Passes Halloween "Trick or Treating" Resolution

Pumpkins

At their October 5 meeting, the Burlington City Council passed a resolution requesting citizens observe Halloween “trick or treating” on Saturday, October 30 instead of Sunday, October 31. The aim of the resolution is to better utilize increased public safety staffing that will be in place due to the City’s annual “Dark in the Park” event.

“Dark in the Park” will be held at City Park from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM on Saturday, October 30. With additional police and emergency responders already staffed for the evening, the City will be able to better facilitate “trick or treating” on the same evening. The City asks for residents to please recognize this activity on Saturday night.

Burlington’s “Dark in the Park” is an annual event that will feature amusement rides, play carnival games presented by local non-profit groups, and trick or treating at the park. This will be followed by Burlington’s annual Halloween Fireworks show that will fill the night sky with splashes of color.

For more information on “Dark in the Park” and other City Halloween events, contact the Burlington Recreation and Parks Department at 222-5030.
