This year, there have been hundreds of reported rabies cases in North Carolina. Most of these cases involved raccoons, a main carrier of the disease. Other primary carriers include bats, foxes and skunks. It is North Carolina state law for all pets to have a current rabies vaccine and it is the only way to protect your pet from this fatal disease.
