[ARCHIVED] City Reports Sewer Overflow 1-20-10

As required by the Clean Water Act of 1999 (House Bill 1160), the City of Burlington provides the following notice:

The City of Burlington had an overflow of approximately 15,000 gallons of untreated wastewater from its sanitary sewer collection system reach surface waters beginning at 7:30 AM on Wednesday, January 20, 2010 behind 1144 Graham Hopedale Road in Burlington, NC. The overflow, caused by grease and line debris, discharged into Staley Creek. The obstruction was removed and flooding ceased by 12:15 PM.

The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Division of Water Quality was notified of this overflow. This information is being published as required by North Carolina General Statutes, Article 21 Chapter 143.215.C.
