[ARCHIVED] Coblebrook Creek Adjustments to FEMA Floodplain

The Federal Emergency Management Agency issued a Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) on Dec. 29, 2009, which made changes to the Coblebrook Creek floodplain located in West Burlington.

This change effectively removed approximately 49 properties from the former Zone AE floodplain to a “shaded X” zone. This change may affect some homeowners’ flood insurance requirements and may also alter some of the building requirements affected by floodplain designations.

The City of Burlington Engineering Department sent notification letters on January 7, 2010, to residents whose properties were affected by this change.

The affected area includes properties adjacent to Coblebrook Creek from a point 180 feet downstream of Neese Drive to a approximately 80 feet upstream of Edgewood Avenue and were located on Colonial Dr., Neese Dr., Devonsire Ln., Hickory Ave., Edgewood Ave., Forestdale Dr., S. Fairway Dr., and Amherst Ave.

This change affected the 100-yr floodplain of Flood Insurance Rate Maps 3710885500J & 3710885400J. The revised portion of these maps can be reviewed at the City of Burlington’s Engineering office, located at 425 S. Lexington Ave.
