Dr. David L. Maynard, 84, passed away on July 23 from ongoing health problems. Maynard, fondly referred to as "Coach", was well known for his success as a coach at Jordan Sellars High School where he led the school to five state titles in basketball and track.
For nearly thirty years, Maynard served the citizens of Burlington as a public official. He completed seven four-year terms on the City Council and began his eighth last year filling a vacancy left from the most recent municipal election. Maynard served on the Board of Directors for numerous organizations, including the Salvation Army, ElderCare, and New Directions in addition to other civic, fraternal, and church groups.
