The City of Burlington now offers citizens a new way to get zoning information directly from the City's website.
The City's GIS Division now offers residents direct access to zoning information online via Geographic Information System (GIS) technology. The new service can be found on BurlingtonNC.gov in the GIS Division section under the Planning Department.
For local government, GIS might be summarized in the following way: GIS brings geographic data from surveys, plats, spreadsheets, GPS units and paper files together within a computer network that is available to employees, officials and citizens for the generation of visual maps and reports.
