[ARCHIVED] Mebane Street Closure/Construction Begins May 6

Street Work Sign

During construction, traffic on South Mebane Street will be maintained in a one-lane, one-way traffic pattern. For about one year, the eastbound lane of South Mebane Street will be closed and motorists will only be able to travel west through the work zone. Once eastbound construction is complete, the westbound lane of South Mebane Street will be closed and motorists will only be able to travel east. This pattern will provide better traffic flow through this already congested area.

Numerous secondary roads accessing South Mebane Street between Huff man Mill Road and N.C. 54 (Chapel Hill Road) will be closed during the construction. Motorists will be able to access South Mebane Street from the following roads:

• Huff man Mill Road
• North Catherine Drive
• North Cardwell Drive
• Delaney Drive
• South May Drive
• Alamance Road
• Trail One
• Trail Two
• Trail Eight
• N.C. 54 (Chapel Hill Road)

Motorists can also expect periodic closures at the intersections of Huffman Mill Road and N.C. 54. NCDOT will maintain driveway access at all times to all residents affected by the construction.

For more information about the project, please contact the resident engineer at (336) 570-6830 or the division construction engineer at (336) 334-3192. Motorists are reminded to stay alert and watch signs for construction information.
