The City of Burlington will soon conduct controlled flushing of the water distribution system. The purpose of this program is to improve the overall long-term quality of water in the distribution system.
The City will flush small sections of the system at a time. Flushing may result in localized cloudiness and discoloration of the water. This condition is temporary and is the result of the scouring action on the water lines caused during this process. You can quickly clear up the discolored water in your home or business by flushing water through your plumbing. Residents should not wash clothes in water that is discolored. This may result in staining.
City crews will be flushing water lines in the vicinity of: N Mebane, Sellers Mill, Broadview, Wade, Hedge, Cross, Cobb, Columbia, Bowman, Cedar, Beaumont, Georgia, Piedmont Way, Rainey, Maryland, Washington, Holt, N Main, N Church, Graham Hopedale, Highland, Saint John, Virginia, James, Rolling, Ireland, Friendly, Vance, Sellers, Royal, Fonville, Jeffries, Ruffin, N Fisher, Ireland, Trade, Union, Rauhut, Apple, Jerkins, Baldwin, Richmond, Carver, Day, Fulton, Lincoln, Morningside, and Crescent Streets between 2/9/2009 (10:00 PM) to 2/13/2009 (6:30AM).
