As required by the Clean Water Act of 1999 (House Bill 1160), the City of Burlington provides the following notice:
The City of Burlington had an overflow of approximately 2,540 gallons of untreated wastewater from its sanitary sewer collection system reach surface waters on December 21, 2008 at 742 Huntington Court. The blockage was due to vandalism. A sanitary sewer manhole was illegally opened and filled with a comforter and large sticks. The City has filed a police report and the investigation is ongoing. No additional information is available at this time.
The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Division of Water Quality was notified of this overflow. This information is being published as required by North Carolina General Statutes, Article 21 Chapter 143.215.C.
