The City recently added a Twitter account to post Traffic and Utility updates. Log onto Twitter.com/BurlingtonNC to see updates. Click on the Join Today! button and start "Following" BurlingtonNC to get e-mail or SMS updates on your cell phone.
With Twitter, citizens can register their cell phones to receive text message updates from the City on traffic alerts, road construction, and utility projects. For example, Citizens will be able to know road closures before heading out or when a line flushing may affect water service in their area.
Twitter is a free, third-party service. It is not designed to be a primary form of communication. The City will still post official announcements at BurlingtonNC.gov and in the Times News.
