Burlington Animal Services will hold a rabies clinic on Saturday, September 27, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. The cost is $5.00. Bring your pet to the Burlington Pet Adoption Center at 221 Stone Quarry Rd., Haw River. Dogs must be on leash and cats in a carrier. Call 578-0343 for information. This year alone, there have been 3 reported cases of rabies in Alamance County and around 240 in North Carolina. Most of these cases involved raccoons, a main carrier of the disease. Other primary carriers include bats, foxes and skunks. It is North Carolina state law for all pets to have a current rabies vaccine and it is the only way to protect your pet from this fatal disease.
