[ARCHIVED] Water Discoloration Due to Flow Reversal

The City of Burlington’s Utilities Department is in the process of repainting the Race Street water tower. A subsequent flow reversal resulted in some water discoloration for a portion of the City’s water customers.

Customers in the following area may notice discoloration: the intersection of Ramada Road and Alamance Road to S. Spring Street and from Church Street to Tucker St.

The City is conducting flushing to remove the discoloration. Flushing may result in localized cloudiness of the water. This condition is temporary and is the result of the scouring action on the water lines caused during this process.

Residents should not wash clothes in water that is discolored. This may result in staining.

Please direct questions to the Burlington Utilities Office at (336) 222-5133.
