[ARCHIVED] Public Meeting: Little Alamance Creek

The City of Burlington will host a public meeting on restoration of Little Alamance Creek held at 7:00pm on Monday, September 22nd in the Kernodle Senior Center at 1535 South Mebane Street in Burlington. At this meeting, the public will have an opportunity to learn more about a restoration project for Little Alamance Creek at Burlington’s City Park. The creek, which runs through the cities of Burlington and Graham, has been rated as impaired by the State since 2000 due to poor biological conditions.

In 2006, North Carolina’s Ecosystem Enhancement Program and the Piedmont Triad Council of Governments began a study to monitor the creek, make policy recommendations, and identify project opportunities to improve water quality and habitat. The results of this study will be reviewed at the meeting and citizens will have the opportunity to talk to city and state officials regarding stream restoration efforts.
