The City of Burlington recently received notification from the North Carolina Department of Commerce Division of Community Assistance that the Recreation & Parks Department will be honored at the 2005 Awards Dinner as the 2004 Main Street Champion.
Each Main Street community is given the opportunity to select an individual, couple, partnership or civic entity that has made a significant contribution to the success of their Downtown Program. This designation recognizes the efforts of individuals who have been instrumental in downtown revitalization. "The award is a tribute to you and your staff in appreciation of all your hard work and dedication," stated Rodney Swink Director of the Office of Urban Development.
The City will be recognized and presented with certificates commemorating this honor at the North Carolina Main Street Annual Awards Dinner in New Bern on Thursday, January 27, 2005. The Department works closely with the Burlington Downtown Corporation through programming, maintenance and board representation.
