The City of Burlington’s Dark in the Park Halloween Celebration for 2007 will include fireworks. Michael Willets, Burlington’s Fire Marshal, made the determination this morning that the City will be able to proceed with the annual show.
A tradition that began 60 years ago, Burlington’s Halloween Celebration has entertained thousands of residents over the years with an array of activities including parades, family activities, entertainment, and the always-popular fireworks show.
Willets advised Tony Laws, Director of Recreation and Parks, this morning (October 29) that a permit for the outdoor fireworks display would be issued for the show on Oct. 31 at Burlington City Park. The decision was solely based upon the significant rainfall received last week (6.55") and the wind and humidity forecasts for the next three days. Additional fire protection, including the NC Forestry Service, will be utilized during the fireworks display.
The Wednesday night forecast calls for winds to be calm, and nighttime humidity levels for the next 3 nights are expected to be in the mid-60% range.
