BURLINGTON HAS LOWEST WATER & SEWER RATES
During the City’s annual budget presentation, City Council members were made aware of how Burlington’s water and sewer rates compare to other communities in the region. According to information provided by the North Carolina League of Municipalities, Burlington’s rates were by far the cheapest of other regional providers. Comparing the use of 6,000 gallons per month, which services a family of three, Burlington’s rates compared as follows:

Staff is proposing an increase of 4.5% for sewer only for the 2007-08 budget. When questioned how that increase might compare to other communities, Frank Hope responded, while he did not have final information on all other communities the following were preliminary requested increases:
