Since the last Phase II Jordan Lake update a citizen advisory group has formed and their first meeting is scheduled for September. This group will attempt to identify financial implications of the Jordan Lake study that will affect the City and the entire County. The study, a part of a statewide program would require the City to meet more stringent limits for wastewater discharge into the Haw River. As a result of these unfunded mandates some growth will be restricted as well as increases in utility rates. City staff continues to be educated on the implications these environmental regulations will have on our community. Keeping citizens involved and aware of these concerns is important.
