The Burlington City Council was presented with research recommendations on the concept of performance based management at their July 17th work session. This method of organizational operations would implement a system into the city government that would use performance measurements to help improve efficiency and effectiveness in the every day business of the city. The implementation of this process would also mean that citizen involvement, such as the City Services Survey conducted earlier this year in conjunction with Elon University, would become an even more vital part of City operations.
The council agreed to move forward with continuing research and begin the next step in the process of writing a strategic plan, which would outline the overall vision of the City as it relates to performance management.
