Revisions to the Street Light Policy
The City recently adopted revisions to their current street lighting policy. The revisions give developers more flexibility in considering decorative lighting for their subdivision projects. The developer will work with Duke Power to develop a lighting plan for their specific development and then the plan will be submitted to the City for review. Once this plan has been approved, the City will calculate the difference between the City’s conventional lighting design and the enhanced lighting design. The difference between the two will be the “enhanced operating cost” and this will be the responsibility of the developer. Once this is decided, the developer may incorporate that cost into the framework of the property owners association, whereas the property owners would pay the enhanced operating cost from there on out. The new revisions to the policy allow the developer greater opportunities to provide more attractive developments and thus allowing Burlington to continue to be a welcoming home for many.
