In a recent traffic study, the Burlington Police Department observed from various locations how many drivers were wearing their seat belts. Read on for the results....
The Burlington Police Department's Traffic Division conducts traffic studies in conjunction with the North Carolina Governor's Highway Safety Program. Every year G.H.S.P conducts two "Click It or Ticket" Campaigns in which our department participates. The goal of the campaign being to educate drivers and passengers on the importance of wearing their seat belts.
In a recent study, five locations from throughout the city were chosen because they had the highest number of vehicle crashes. These locations were observed throughout 2017. In that time 5,180 drivers were observed, and of that number 94% were seen wearing their seat belts. Therefore the Burlington Police Department would like to thank all of those drivers and passengers who dutifully wore their seat belts. Please continue to buckle up every time, and let's try to raise that percentage even higher in the coming year.
