CITY REPORTS SEWER OVERFLOW

As required by the Clean Water Act of 1999 (House Bill 1160), the City of Burlington provides

the following notice:

The City of Burlington had an overflow of approximately 20,000 gallons of untreated wastewater

on Tuesday, December 6, 2005. The overflow occurred from a manhole on the Mayfair Mill

Outfall along Graham Hopedale Road. The City received notice from a resident in the area at 2:00

p.m. and the overflow was relieved by 4:00 p.m. The blockage in the line appeared to have been

caused by an obstruction in a downstream manhole.

The North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources, Division of Water

Quality was notified. This information is being published as required by North Carolina

General Statutes, Article 21 Chapter 143.215.C.
