[ARCHIVED] Recreation & Parks Receives Top Honors

The Burlington Recreation & Parks Department became the reciepient of the 2005 Arts & Humanities Award presented by the North Carolina Recreation & Parks Association at its Annual Conference in Asheville in November. NCRPA presented the award for outstanding service in the Arts & Humanities for the Teen To Teen Theater program.

Teen To Teen Theater, explores and conveys the difficult issues that adolescents deal with today through the creation and performance of dramatic material. Teens from the Alamance/Burlington School System, perform original works; adaptations of scenes based on real life events and other dramatic works they believe are important in the lives of teenagers.

Teen to Teen Theater is located at Thataways Youth Center at City Park, and is funded in part through United Way and the City of Burlington. For information or to become involved, contact Zeke Caride at 570-6516.
