[ARCHIVED] Join the Police Department for a Community Conversation

BPD

Please join representatives from the community and the Burlington Police Department for one of 3 “community conversations” regarding gun violence in Burlington. Due to the recent increase in gun violence, the Police Department is seeking the community’s collaboration to better understand concerns, improve community safety, evaluate strategies for future action, and share appropriate details regarding the current spate of gun crimes in our community. Please join us:

• Tuesday, June 7 at North Park’s Sertoma Building, 849 Sharpe Road, Burlington
6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
• Wednesday June 8 at the John Robert Kernodle Senior Activities Center, 1535 South Mebane Street, Burlington
6:00 to 7:30 p.m.
• Thursday, June 9 at Positive Attitude Youth Center, 229 North Graham Hopedale Road, Burlington
6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

Each session will be similar and it is not necessary to attend more than one session. At each session, the police department will present factual information about the nature and frequency of gun violence in our community. Community members will participate in feedback sessions to share their concerns and suggestions with the department.

In addition to attending a “community conversation,” the Burlington Police Department is asking residents to say something if they see something. Witnesses are asked to report emergency situations to 9-1-1. Crime tips can be submitted to the Police Department anonymously by calling Crimestoppers at (336) 229-7100.
