To raise money and awareness for Special Olympics, BPD officers will participate in the annual Law Enforcement Torch Run
The Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics is a 20-day event that takes the torch throughout the state, before it is used for the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympic Summer Games in Raleigh on May 29th 2015.
In Alamance County, representatives from Burlington Police Department, Graham Police Department, and Mebane Police Department will carry the Torch, “the Flame of Hope”, starting on Tuesday, May 26th at 8:15 AM at Nature’s Emporium, S. Church/Westbrook. Officers and Police Department employees will run with the torch into Burlington on S. Church St to Chapel Hill Rd, from there, the torch will travel on Chapel Hill Rd to the Graham city limits on Harden St. At that time, officers/employees of the Burlington Police Department will hand off the torch to Graham Police Department. (The route is almost exactly 6 miles)
Graham PD’s Route - Runners will start on West Harden Street at Whitsett
Street, turn right onto West Elm Street, then onto East Elm Street to the Haw River City Limits where the torch will be passed to the Mebane Police Department.

Mebane PD’s route - Runners will start at 325 Norma St and head towards Graham Rd, turn right onto East Main Street, turn right onto US 70, and proceed to the finish point on US 70, 400 West Center Street inside Mebane City Limits.
Please help us inform the public to be aware of the officers and civilian staff running and what the cause is, if they drive by give us a honk and a wave. This is a great cause.
