[ARCHIVED] City Council Approves Software Contract

On September 20, 2005 the City Council approved a contract for new financial software. The implementation of the software will begin soon. The City is very thankful for the staff that has supported the current software for over 30 years. Maintenance of the software is a huge task and the City has been fortunate to have a well-trained dedicated staff.

A need to replace the current software was recognized ten years ago or more. In 2004 the City contracted with TDSi, a consulting firm that specializes in helping cities with software and computer decisions. After a thorough review of departments the firm was able to identify the needs of the City. After a search and bidding process a selection committee comprised of six department heads narrowed the competition. The final decision was made by the 6-member selection committee as well as 54 staff members who evaluated the software packages. Eden, a division of Tyler Technologies, Inc., was chosen unanimously.

The new software will bring the City up to speed with flexible software that will meet the needs of the City. Changes may be made with the click of a mouse by ordinary users rather than by time consuming programming.
