Keep your valuables safe during the holiday season and all year round.
The Burlington Police Department wants to remind you to “lock it, or lose it!” No one wants to be the victim of a crime, but you increase your risk of being a victim of theft if you leave GPS units, phones, your purse, or other valuables visible in your vehicle.
Burlington Police Department reports that 53% of Burlington’s reported breaking & entering of autos were committed on unlocked vehicles. This is a result of people leaving valuables in view and not locking their vehicles. You can dramatically reduce the risk of being a crime victim by always locking your vehicle and hiding money, cell phones, tools, check books, luggage, cameras, GPS units, and anything of value or personal identification.
Always:
Lock doors and take keys with you
Park in secure and well lit locations
Don’t leave valuables in plain sight; lock them in the trunk or take them with you
