[ARCHIVED] National Senior Softball Comes To Burlington

The Amateur Softball Association of America and the City of Burlington will host the National Senior Men's Ages 50-75+ Championship in Burlington beginning Friday, September 2nd with championship games being played Monday, September 5th.

Teams from as far away as California, Nevada, Arizona, North Dakota, New Hampshire, Michigan and surrounding East Coast states will make their way to Burlington beginning as early as Wednesday.

"Events such as this, have a positive impact on the economy throughout the 96 hours of their visit", stated City Manager Harold Owen. With over 300 hotel rooms reserved across the county, restaurants will be packed in with players and families, as they come together for a sports packed weekend of competition. Over 70 teams are expected to participate in the overall tournament.

Games will begin Friday and continue through Monday at Burlington City Park and Springwood Park. For a complete shedule of game times, log on to burlingtonNC.gov and go to the Tournament Information section beginning Thursday, September 1st. Admission fee charged at the gate.
