The City of Burlington IT Department provides centralized administration services, computer systems and network services to hundreds of City employees in a dozen departments. IT supports specialized applications for Animal Services, Finance, HR, Fire, Police, Recreation, Tax, Water Resources, and others.  The City’s fiber, copper and wireless network integrates several hundred computer devices in over 30 facilities into a high speed network.

In addition to day-to-day services, the IT Department is also responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the technology infrastructure on which City services are based. In this capacity the Department is responsible for identifying, analyzing, recommending, and acquiring, new technologies in keeping with the mission of the enterprise. IT is also responsible for implementing standards for desktop and mobile computers, operating systems, servers, network devices, peripherals, and all software connected to the City network to ensure that the City’s technological environment is innovative, secure and maintained in a cost effective manner.
