Information Technology Services
In addition to day-to-day services, the IT Department is also responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the technology infrastructure on which City services are based. In this capacity the Department is responsible for identifying, analyzing, recommending, and acquiring, new technologies in keeping with the mission of the enterprise. IT is also responsible for implementing standards for desktop and mobile computers, operating systems, servers, network devices, peripherals, and all software connected to the City network to ensure that the City’s technological environment is innovative, secure and maintained in a cost effective manner.
Information Technology Goals
- Make the City of Burlington government accessible and easy to do business with by providing customer friendly, cost-effective electronic options for delivering information and services to the community.
- Create an environment where innovation and collaboration are encouraged, teamwork and individual contributions are valued, and accountability is required in the application of technology to the business of City governance.
- We aim to create and sustain a stable, secure, scalable and recoverable technical environment that balances innovation with reliability to deliver information and services to the community, City employees, and our municipal partners.
