Employment Information
Equal Opportunity Employment Information

The City of Burlington is committed to providing equal employment opportunities to applicants and employees without regard to race, religion, national origin, gender, disability, or any other characteristic protected by law. This applies to all areas of employment, including recruitment, hiring, training, transfer, promotion, termination, and all forms of compensation and benefits.

The City will comply with its legal obligation to provide reasonable accommodation to qualified individuals with disabilities. Compliance with Federal laws and regulations require employers to monitor and report the status of their Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Programs. To do so, the City asks for confidential information about race, gender and disability from each applicant. This information will be treated as confidential; hiring supervisors will not see this information and it will not be used in the hiring process.

Application Process

Employment applications are only accepted for posted jobs. Anyone who feels they meet the minimum qualifications is encouraged to apply for a posted position via the City’s online application system.
PAPER APPLICATIONS ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTED FOR ANY POSITION.

To apply for a posted City of Burlington position,
applicants must click on the “Apply” link found in the job posting.
This link will take you to the online application.

The City of Burlington is using the NeoGov online application system; therefore, all applicants must have a NeoGov account to apply. If you have never applied for a job through NeoGov, you will need to create a new user account. If you have already created a NeoGov account to apply through another agency, your existing username and password, as well as your saved profile, can be used to apply for employment within the City of Burlington.

Each user account is established for one person only and should NOT be shared with another person. Once an application has been submitted, applicants should check their online account regularly as most status notifications will be posted to the online account and/or sent via email. You can return to your online application by clicking on the Applicant Login link.

Only authorized employees and hiring supervisors have access to the information submitted online. Submission of an application does not guarantee an interview or hire.
