BAS Pet Admission Appointments

BAS manages the volume of pet intake at BAS by prioritizing emergencies and those with the greatest need. This will help us ensure pets receive appropriate care and have the best opportunity for a positive outcome. We are also bound by capacity limits and requirements for care under NC law. Non-emergency admission of pets is by appointment only. If you have a true emergency situation and need to speak with one of our staff, please email us at petsupport@burlingtonnc.gov,  If you need immediate emergency assistance with a life-threatening situation after hours, call 911.

Appointments for pet surrenders are only scheduled by BAS staff during your pet surrender pre-counseling telephone appointment.  When you schedule a pet surrender pre-admission counseling appointment, a BAS staff member will contact you by phone at your scheduled appointment time. During this call, staff will talk with you about the intake process, gather additional information about your pet and schedule a time for you to bring the pet to BAS as appropriate.

Additional appointment availability is added as housing space in our facility becomes available. If you are scheduling an appointment to bring in a stray pet you found, you may check the appointment calendar to see if a sooner appointment has become available and reschedule your appointment.
