Festival FAQ's

Where is the Burlington Carousel Festival held?

The Burlington Carousel Festival is held in Burlington City Park - 1388 S. Main St., Burlington NC 27215. Visit the Parking & Transporation page to learn the best way to get to the festival and where to park.

How much does it cost?

The event is free to attend and the amusement rides  (carousel, train, cars, boats) are free all weekend. Please bring money to shop from artisan vendors, for food and drink, and some of the kids' activities. View the Activities pages to see what things have an additional cost.

Are there kids’ activities at Carousel Festival?

Absolutely! A ride on the historic Dentzel Carousel is obviously a must but there are also other amusement park rides to enjoy. There’s the train ride that goes through a spooky tunnel, little itty bitty cars, and an adorable boat ride where the brass bells are usually everyone’s favorite part. For information on rider and height restrictions visit City Park Amusements. These amusement rides are free all weekend.

Bring your kids to the Kids Zone near the Amusement Park/Thataways Youth Center to enjoy inflatable slides, obstacle courses, a climbing wall & more ($5 wristband for unlimited rides). We'll also have a performance stage located at Thataways Youth Center featuring local family-friendly performances. Alamance Arts will host a KidsArt Tent on the ballfield and children of all ages can come craft to their hearts desire - stick around to join the KidsArt Parade through the festival grounds each day at 3:00 pm.

Is there parking close by?

We're aware that parking is an issue at nearly EVERY large festival/event and is probably the least fun part of your visit. Please view our Festival map (HERE) to see close-by parking options. Should these lots be filled up or if you'd like to avoid the Festival area altogether, we'll also be offering a Park & Ride option via Link Transit!

Park in City Lot #8 in Downtown Burlington (700 S Spring St.) and hop on the bus directly to the Festival! Busses will depart the lot each hour, on the hour. A full schedule can be found here.

Can I bring my dog?

Leashed pets are permitted in City Park. Owners must pick up after their pets. The Festival has large crowds of people, many children, loud noises and other pets. Patrons are advised only to bring pets that will remain well-behaved in this environment. As an issue of public safety, owners of unruly animals may be asked to leave. Guide animals are welcome.

Can you suggest a hotel or other things to do while in town?

For information on Burlington/Alamance County, please visit the Alamance County Visitors Bureau or Burlington Downtown Corporation.

Who coordinates the Burlington Carousel Festival?

The Burlington Recreation & Parks Department produces and presents Carousel Festival each year with the assistance of other City of Burlington Departments.
