The Special Events Division with the Burlington Recreation and Parks Department hosts over 20 large-scale events each year. Concerts, Holiday Celebrations, and the Burlington Carousel Festival make up the calendar of events that provide family-oriented fun for all. While attending an event, you might find food trucks, live music, interaction opportunities with community organizations, live performances, special photo ops, and more.

HOLIDAY CELEBRATIONS

Many of the events hosted by the Burlington Recreation and Parks Department are focused on celebrating holidays and take place in Downtown Burlington or at Burlington City Park.

FESTIVALS

The Burlington Carousel Festival is the largest two-day festival hosted in Burlington city limits. The annual festival features live music, performances, children’s activities, arts and craft vendors, fair foods and features the amusement park, with special emphasis on the Dentzel Menagerie Carousel. Smaller scale festivals such as the St. Paddy’s Day Bash, July 3rd in the Park and Dark in the Park bring together thousands of people and feature many of the same attractions.

CONCERTS

Concerts take place during the Summer in Burlington on the second and fourth Friday from May through August. The Musical Chairs County-wide Concert Series hosted by Alamance Arts is a rotating concert series between Elon, Graham, Mebane and Burlington. Burlington hosts Concert in the Park at Burlington City Park on the second Friday and a larger event with food trucks, community orgs, beer garden and other activities in Downtown Burlington as the 4th Fridays concert. A special 4th Fridays takes place in collaboration with Elon University as part of their Family Weekend in September.

COMMUNITY-SPONSORED EVENTS

Beyond the 20+ events hosted by the Burlington Recreation and Parks Department, community organizations host large-scale public events too. From festivals such as Alamance Pride and the Alamance Regional Car Show to 5K’s and fundraising walks such as the Walk to End Alzheimer’s and the Alamance County Crop Walk, there is always something happening on city property.
