Each December the Burlington Police Department participates in a program called Shop with a Cop.
Members of BPD, officers, staff, and volunteers, take 75 underprivileged children shopping for their Christmas gifts at a local Walmart. The department spends $100 on each child and gives each family a week's worth of groceries.
Additionally, BPD spends time with and takes a week's worth of groceries to elderly citizens in the community who live alone.
This program is made possible entirely by sponsorships and donations from the community. We wish to ensure every child has gifts, each family has food, and no one feels alone for the holidays.
