 Chili Cook-off
 Chili Cook-off January 25, 2014
Think you've got the best tasting chili in Alamance County? Find out at the Times-News 23rd annual Chili Bowl Cook Off. Just bring a crock pot full of your best chili to Holly Hill Mall to be judged by local chili experts. Top three winners receive cash prizes and products from Coca Cola and Burlington Parks & Recreation. Preregistration required. The cook off will be who register online by Jan. 22.

If you can handle the HOT, come join the Chili Pepper Eatin' contest, starting at 12:30pm after the Chili Cook-Off. Up to 15 contestants will be given 3 minutes to eat as many pickled jalapeno peppers as they possibly can. The Champion wins $100 and Coca Cola products.

 Easter Egg Hunt
 Easter Egg Saturday, April, 27 (City park Field #1, 4PM 2yrs - 5yrs and 4:30PM 6yrs - 12yrs)

Burlington Recreation & Parks invites families to the annual Easter Egg Hunt in the park. Ages 2 to 4yrs will hunt on the grass in front of the Jimmy Combs stage. Ages 5yrs to 12yrs will hunt on Field #1. Only children are allowed in the hunt areas. Parents are asked to stay out of the hunt area and remain in the designated spectator areas.

*The Amusement Park will open immediately following the end of the Easter Egg Hunt.

 Active City Streets Saturday, May 3, (Downtown Burlington, 10AM)

Active City Streets is an annual downtown street festival to promote healthy living. This is a FREE and unique opportunity for all ages to experience downtown by foot, skate or bike. We encourage participants of all ages to enjoy Active City Streets. Be active, meet new friends and celebrate spring. Participation is free and open to the public.

Yee Haw River Paddle

The Yee Haw River Paddle is a fund raising event by the Haw River Partnerships
to help the public conserve the natural and scenic resources of Haw River.  This will

Burlington BMX / Tarheel National Tournament

The Alamance County Arts Council conceptualized the musical chairs concert series (est. 2010) to streamline the multiple concert series each partner previously scheduled. Partners include the Alamance County Arts Council, Graham Recreation and Parks department, Mebane Business Association, and Burlington Recreation & Parks. The concert series features local and regional bands Friday nights 7-9pm, May through September.

Burlington Recreation & Parks presents Yoga in the Park on Friday June 20 in celebration of the Summer Solstice.  Bring your yoga mat, towel or blanket to Willowbrook Park to participate and practice yoga in the park.  

July 3rd In The Park - Independence Celebration
American Flag
Burlington will turn back the hands of time and have the original Independence Day Celebration at City Park as they did in years past. Fun filled activities such as sack races, water balloon toss, and watermelon eating contests await all who come out. There will be a live band performance to set the ambiance of the event as everyone awaits the spectacular firework display. This event is for the young and young at heart, so make plans now for an evening of fun, music and festivities.

Burlington Recreation & Parks in partnership with the Burlington Downtown Corporation presents the 5th annual Burlington Downtown Halloween Spooktacular.  Twelve and under ghost, witches, fairies, princesses and other spooky friends are invited to walk in this year’s costume parade. 

Dark In The Park

Come out and ride the amusement rides, enter the costume contest, play carnival games presented by local non-profit groups, and enjoy an evening of Halloween fun at City Park.  Walk over to Field #1 for costume contest, glow in the dark hoop dancing and more Halloween fun.  

Haunted Train

Come out to Burlington City Park in support of the Alamance County Arts Council. Take a ride on the dark side on board the Haunted Halloween Train.  Creep on board for some thrills and shrills with scenes along the track and a ghost story with a special twist.  

Burlington Christmas Parade

Starting October 1, 2014 interested businesses, non-profit agencies and civic groups can apply to participate in this year’s parade.  The registration must be completed “in person” by coming by the Burlington Recreation & Parks Administrative Office at 1333 Overbrook Road, Monday-Friday between the hours of 8am-5pm.

Christmas in the Park Burlington Recreation & Parks invites you to their annual Christmas In The Park event.  Come to City Park to see the twinkling lights, ride the carousel & train, and enjoy a hayride and feed the animals at our live nativity.
